BREAKING: 100,000 Ontario deaths projected over course of #COVID19 pandemic *without* public health measures in place, say provincial health officials.

3,000 to 15,000 deaths expected if public health measures are used.
That slide was referring to the entire course of the pandemic, which officials say could last 18 months or even 2 years.

"Had we done nothing, Ontario may have suffered 100,000 deaths," says Dr. Peter Donnelly of @PublicHealthON. "Thankfully, that is not the position we are in."
Ontario health officials are expecting 1,600 #COVID19 deaths in April alone if current intervention measures are kept up.

That death toll could shoot up to as high as 6,000, meaning 4,400 deaths are being prevented by ongoing efforts, the province's modelling suggests:
This is important: Provincial modelling suggests even the *best case scenario* for #COVID19 cases would surge beyond our current Ontario ICU capacity. We would be covered by 900 additional planned ICU beds.

Here is how Ontario is faring in terms of the cumulative #COVID19 case count compared to other areas, according to provincial health officials. Note how British Columbia's line is starting to flatten compared to Ontario's.
