Just read @portsmouthnews article on the things that @portsmouthuni is doing (or should I say NOT doing) to help their students during this time and Iâm gutted for all the students who go there

1) Students CANNOT be expected to âactively engageâ with their learning when they donât have A) all of the resources they need B) a good working environment C) good mental health (find me a student who doesnât feel overwhelmed by stress right now)
If students are expected to use things like the library, library books, group work, seminars, lectures etc. to complete their learning during normal times special adjustments should be made to make up for these things now that they are not available
If @portsmouthuni does not think that these things are essential for the completion of students learning, then perhaps they should move all of their courses online and stop charging their students ÂŁ9,000+ a year for things that they now view as ânon-essentialâ

Then we come to this ridiculous line - for the exact reasons I have listed above, ALL students will unavoidably be disadvantaged by the current exceptional circumstances and âfair assessmentâ is not something that should only be given in exceptional circumstances...
...âfair assessmentâ is an absolute bread line requirement of universities at ALL TIMES and is not a supplement to the incredibly disruptive circumstances students are facing
Finally, students can only âcompeteâ with eachother if they are on a level playing field - expecting students to compete against students who graduated in previous years is like asking someone with a broken leg to run a race against 10 uncompromised runners
@portsmouthuni Do whatâs right. Level the playing field. Future students are watching your right now - youâre doing a disservice not only to your students, but to yourself by not supporting them in the proper way. From a student who is relieved she chose @UniofExeter
