We had a lady on the program this morning whose been camping in Timber Creek for six days waiting for her special exemption to be approved, after driving 3000km from Qld for a contract muster job in the Kimberley. But good news is, the exemption process started moving along 2day!
Now the special exemption for ag workers to enter Kimberley and other biosecurity areas in N. WA is operational, @KPCAssoc is advising employers to get their workers paperwork re-submitted ASAP before the hard border closure on Sunday night, as exemptions may tighten up.
Have a happy and safe weekend everyone, signing out for a corona news free night!
What you need to do if you still have workers on their way to the farm:
1. Employers should re-submit the Entry into Designated Biosecurity Areas form to this email address [email protected] for approval
2. If you don't already have it request the form outlining Guidance for granting special permission to enter a Designated Biosecurity Area: Food production workers. When filling out the declaration page on the form, you must make sure you fit the criteria of the exemption
3. When you have the approval emailed to you only then will your workers be allowed through police checkpoints in the Kimberley. They must also have copies of their contracts and letters of employment to present to police at the border with their exemption.
4. Once entering the Kimberley, workers will need to isolate for 14 days either on the farm or in accommodation in town
