This is a 2015 study. Cloth masks are not effective at all. Many people who are making them are using polypropylene (nonwoven fabric) as a filter layer. You can find patterns for this online-- don't let these Twitter experts fool you. https://bmjopen.bmj.com/content/5/4/e006577
I'm only discussing the actual effectiveness as far as particles. I know some of y'all only follow me to try and dunk on me. This thread didn't mention stigma, nor colds/flu/etc. 3% effectiveness isn't as effective as an N95. There's variation-- that's why i linked the study.
I'm not a scientist and nor are the people quote tweeting or replying to dunk on me on the basis of what cloth masks *might* do. I'm a person who saw someone claiming that cloth masks were similarly effective and decided to look it up myself. So... look it up yourself.
I'm not suggesting you don't cover your face at all, this was ONLY about that. I'm aware if what's being suggested by our incompetent government, and I'm telling you that from what I'm seeing it's *not AS effective*. These are the words. Not AS effective. Stop replying to me lol.
Muted.
