#CoronaCrisis hits Europe and it has

global dimension - with impact on

right to
#health on
#humanRights on
#gender on
#security… For a good
#ForeignPolicy response, we need to address all dimensions. Here is first attempt to outline them – pls contribute! 1/13

Right to health: The
#CoronaCrisis threatens e.g. the right to

food,

water & sanitation, work + the access to

health facilities. Minorities are especially stigmatised & discriminated. See
@hrw's summary on HR impact of
#Covid19 http://bit.ly/HumanRightsWatch_Corona

Political Freedoms are restricted to combat
#Corona – We need to make sure this does not happen in a disproportionate way and all restrictions are taken back after the outbreak.

Human rights defenders are now more vulnerable to arrests &forced disappearance. Their work is nearly impossible during lockdown and quarantine, if in prison they are especially vulnerable to
#Covid19 – we need to protect them even better:

Security & Quarantine:
#SocialDistancing doesn't work for everyone and is often enforced at gunpoint, as in
#Nigeria -
#Quarantine can be no excuse to shoot the poorest and we need to find and support contextualised solutions:

Refugees: there are 29 million refugees worlwide and 84 % are being hosted by low or middle-income nations. They live in instability & in overcrowded conditions. We need to step up
#aid and develop special
#HealthSecurity concepts!

Trade: Many people fear that increased tariffs on imports of

medicines &

equipment + export bans on medical supplies may worsen the situation.
@J_A_Hillman writes about how "a Smart Trade Approach to Fighting COVID-19" may look like:

Sanctions:
@mbachelet says that "broad sectoral sanctions" on countries facing the
#CoronaCrisis should be "re-evaluated". In
#Iran, e.g., at least 1,800 people have died from COVID-19 - and sanctions on medicine & equipment have a big impact:
http://bit.ly/SanctionsCorona

War & Tension: There's massive increase of tensions and security issues with
#Corona - at the same time, int. peacekeeping & prevention missions are interrupted or stopped. That's why
@antonioguterres has rightfully called for a "global ceasefire"
http://bit.ly/Guterres_Global_Ceasefire

Migrant Workers: they are amongst the most vulnerable, many stuck between countries, without income and perspective. A global solution needs to be found for their protection during
#CoronaCrisis and
#LockDown, e.g. for those from
#Nepal in
#India:

Gender:

Women bear the largest burden of this crisis – as

health care workers, as care-takers: bc abortions are no longer available, bc domestic violence is increasing … The pandemic needs a gender-sensitive response! More on this:

People with disabilities: Many ppl w/ disabilities have underlying conditions that make
#Corona more dangerous for them. In countries with weak healthcare systems, this may put them even more at risk.
@UN has gathered 7 points on what should be done:

The pandemic is global. Our response needs to be

global, too. This is only a preliminary list of aspects we need to consider for a proportional and human response, a response that shows solidarity. Pls contribute new aspects, resources or approaches to everybody's benefit.
