I swear the Dept time the release of these documents to maximise absolute rage levels

Like this, shared the day of the holidays

If there was anyone with DEIS experience involved in drafting this they failed utterly in their role

Absolutely furious (1/8)

1. Every SINGLE example given of good practice - (in those little boxes) involved digital technology and access. Not even a token attempt to describe an option for kids without those options.

#DigitalDivide is not only real it's not being driven straight from the top down

(2/8)
2. Primary teachers should be in daily contact with all students. The only non digital option suggested? Phone call.

So every teacher in our school should be making a daily phone call to every pupil in their class? Are they insane?

(3/8)
3. Feedback. Where do I even start. Expectation is regular, specific feedback to every individual child. Presumably over the phone.... About work the teacher has seen, how?

(4/8)
4. They suggest hosting school assemblies on local community radio. No, seriously. This is in there, I'm not lying.

I'm just going to stop now before i have an actual aneurism.

(5/8)
Basically the whole document is how privileged staff with stable WiFi connections can interact daily with privileged students with WiFi and access to potentially multiple devices in a household and printer capabilities.

(6/8)
As for the rest of the kids? Pfft. Token mention of phone call & 'provision of specific & customised supports for children at risk of educational disadvantage'. Not a single suggestion of how

And when the gap is not majorly increased BY our system for September? Who cares

(7/8)
I'm impressed really. I didn't think it would be possible for a 9 page document to bring me to the brink of furious anger tears on a Friday morning of the Easter holidays.

@Education_Ire pulls it off again
