/ My bf and I got into a bit of a heated discussion overnight when I tried to ask him about his fears related to the current situation in which we find ourselves. He said his biggest frustration is that people are overreacting, “...just like after 9/11.”
/ When I asked about shelter-in-place restrictions (not currently happening where we live), the importance of flattening the curve, etc., he was miffed about stores being told what they can/cannot sell in Vermont. (Note: we are nowhere close to Vermont.)
/ I pointed out that where we live stores are not allowed to sell beer/wine (which I think is completely bogus) in the stores I you have to go to a little store attached to the main store. What angered him? People in Vermont are being told they can’t buy frozen foods.
/ Apparently he saw a photo in his (probably somewhat biased) Facebook feed, which looked similar, or perhaps even was, the below image. When I told him that there was probably some explanation for the reason why, he was even more pissed that I didn’t have the same umbrage.
/ Small picture: 90% of our arguments stem from his taking a single idea, phrase, image at face value and not asking, “Why,” and just taking it as a personal affront.

I should mention he categorizes himself as a libertarian, but our relationship isn’t the crux of this thread.
