I've been scribbling this for days: Define the legacy.

For weeks now, educators & leaders have been brainstorming, implementing, & revising plans to support students remotely. It has been messy & hard. There have been moments of precious connections, plenty of stumbles, 1/7
& wild uncertainty. Are we doing this right? What does "right" even look like? This isn't "remote learning" as much as it is "support during a crisis."

I know this: We are in the midst of challenging almost everything we know about traditional functions of education. 2/7
We are working so fast & hard right now, making decisions & developing plans & asking questions that don't have answers yet & taking this one day at a time.

Never before have we encountered such a revolutionary shift from "how we've always done things." 3/7
Never before have we seen change in education happen so quickly.

We are having to really focus on our "why." It must be the anchor as we navigate these rough seas.

I believe we are defining the legacy of education during this crisis. 4/7
Will we look back on education during #COVID19 & remember...

How it was the impetus to effectively meeting individual student needs? How it reshaped assessment & accountability? How it was a driving force for addressing equity issues? 5/7
Will the legacy be that high-quality digital resources & #OER can transform learning opportunities & lead to instructional improvement? That assistive technologies provide #accessibility for all? 6/7
When students think back to this crisis, will they remember how their teachers reached out to connect with them? How they felt supported & encouraged?

Among the fear & unknown, I see hope & opportunity. Do you see it?

How will you #DefineTheLegacy? 7/7
