I just wanna put it out there that Minister Ong Ye Kung mentioned himself that schools are open and safe for those who cannot afford to stay at home all the time.
If we REALLY are not able to stay at home to continue our responsibilities as students, because of any such reasons (that you are NOT obliged to justify to anyone), then be considerate and strictly follow the measures set in place to utilise the school responsibly.
Our mental and emotional healths are as important as our physical health. And we have to acknowledge that people have different coping mechanisms when it comes to simple daily routines.
“Staying home” might be easy to you. And it’s easy to be annoyed or simply question why it’s so hard for people to stay at home. But it’s in times like this when compassion should come first.
“Home” in itself is already a tricky thing to deal with. You are lucky if you have a “home” that you look forward to going back to. But to some, a house isn’t always a home.
So let’s all please, even if you want to advise people on whatever matter it may be, remember that kindness in anything we say or do will help send across the message better. With kindness we might move others to be stronger, be braver.
