It’s not the his greatness is acknowledged by some, but to my mind, he’s a composer of the stature of Shostakovich, but with a tiny fraction of the performances.
I can remember life changing performances of the 3rd Symphony from @BerlinPhil, the 4th with @esapekkasalonen and @philharmonia, and @christysnr conducting the cello concerto with @rpoonline. Ever heard them again in concert? Nope.
