[Thread in appreciation of running]
This time last year I was about five stone heavier and felt pretty knackered.
Then in June 2019 I was invited to speak at a conference and a colleague remembering I had run in the past said to bring my trainers.
The prospect terrified me...

The prospect terrified me...
But each morning of the conference we went for a jog.
When I got back home I decided I needed a goal, so signed up for a half marathon just eight weeks later.
My big worry was injuring myself, but I got to the start line in one piece...

So I’d got from couch to a half marathon in eight weeks. But what next?
Well New York Marathon was about ten weeks later.
I spent Autumn doing lots of long evening runs and while it sometimes felt like a slog I loved it...

Marathon done I was worried I’d lose interest in running, but I joined local running groups.
I was getting faster and started to get competitive about it...

Parkrun, Great Run Local... any excuse to run with people (especially as I work on my own all day, so the social aspect is great for mental health)
