The best flowers - a thread.

Ginger!
- so varied! so pretty! look, it comes in purple...
- rhizomatic root system (this is very important)
- ginger root is extremely delicious (don't @ me)
- my #1 favourite flower
Water lily
- it's a flower that can swim, how talented!
- another rhizome (rhizomes are the best root system)
- the Ace of Cups is a pretty cool tarot card
- Claude Monet is pretty cool too
Lavender
- smells fantastic
- very witchy
- name is literally synonymous with "purple"
- bees love it, makes for really good honey
- has a taproot, not a rhizome, but it's okay lavender, I forgive you
Bearded Iris
- SUCH a rhizomatic root system đź’•
- beards are hot (don't @ me)
- name means "rainbow," gotta respect that
- Van Gogh painted some irises, he is pretty cool too
Sunflowers
- Beautiful, mathematically (and also visually)
- Heliotropic! Another talented flower
- Occasionally, they are purple
- Definitely no rhizome, though
- Van Gogh is still cool
Grevillea
- AKA "toothbrush flower"
- so much nectar! A feast for honeyeaters
- very interesting root system ("proteoid", if you're into that sort of thing)
- the sticky-outy bits are called "styles," so this is a very stylish flower
Dandelion:
- propagated by the wishes of children
- will set down roots wherever. (specifically, taproots. oh well.)
- "dent-de-lion" = "teeth of the lion." Badass! Also known as "piss-a-bed," which is less badass
- regarded by the Victorian gentry as a delicious sandwich filling
Orchids:
- actually a flower, despite all appearances
- extremely sexy if you're an insect (but only a bit sexy if you're not an insect)
- lovely tuberous and rhizomatic roots
- prominently featured in Adaptation and The Big Sleep, two films you should definitely watch
True lilies:
- #1 "leave these on my grave" flower
- bulbs are very cute
- look at those huge stamens. How rude! Put some clothes on, lilies! (Please don't, you look beautiful)
- OG lily had a huge creative influence on water lilies, flame lilies, lily of the valley, etc
