1.Built by rAjarAjachOla I and patronised by several kings who came in his lineage and later on by kings of various dynasties like the later pAnDyAs, vijayanagara, nAyaks, thanjAvur marAtta, the Big Temple, as we call it today is a repository of a large number of inscriptions.
This thread is restricted to those that were engraved during the period of RRC I.
2.The construction of the temple arguably should have started around 1003 CE and major portions of the main sanctum should have been completed around 1009 CE. (1/2)
