Over ten years after I last practiced any Japanese I’m proud to say I can still recognize two words, “はい” and “いいえ” and a couple isolated hiragana besides. Glad I figured that out at 3am when I couldn’t sleep.
I guess I could play twenty questions except I can’t actually understand what I’m being asked, so that might go poorly.
Uh, anyone need a sycophant?
Actually I suppose if someone asked “日本語を話しますか?” I could affirmatively answer いいえ but that’s about it.
Also can I just say the iPhone’s IME is so much better than what I had on my ancient flip phone in 2006, I can barely remember any kana at all but with the few I was able to remember I was able to infer what the rest were and enter an entire (hopefully mostly correct) sentence.
Whoops google tells me they’d probably ask my jew ass 話せますか not 話しますか, which I guess is the difference between “can you” and “do you.” G-d I love the internet.
