Virtual ward is a community place or patients’ home where they stay till cured.
Multiple e-visits during the day by health care workers via digital platforms is done. Early referral back into hospital is done if any signs of deterioration are noticed.

Patients or their family write down their daily complaints, record their daily temperature, pulse, blood pressure and send it to the concerned ward admin
This is used for patients who have been diagnosed with #COVID, but have only mild or no symptoms to convalesce at home under remote clinical supervision.
The ward is termed “virtual” as these beds are not real but these patients are under supervision of a medical team

Besides #COVID patients, #Virtual_Wards concept can be used for other patients too who require medical supervision but are not being admitted in hospitals right now due to coronavirus scare. This will provide care to such patients while staying safe at home
Virtual wards is to ease the burden during this #pandemic so that the hospital beds are available for patients who are very sick and require admission in hospital

A complete evaluation is done (history taking, physical examination, lab tests etc) at the time of initial visit of the patient and then only admission is done in the virtual wards. This serves as a reference based on which decision to admit or to not admit is done.
