I'm still confused by the people who say a character, we're talking Carol here, is ugly but the actor, Melissa isn't. If Carol was made to look different...if Carol had prosthetics which greatly changed her looks then yes, you can easily distinguish between character and actor...
...so you could call the character ugly if you so desired. When there is no physical difference between the character and the actor you are no longer only calling the character ugly. If you mean the characters actions are ugly and not saying it to describe their looks...
...then yes, that is acceptable because you are describing their actions and not their looks. Hate on any character but please don't try and tell me that calling Carol an ugly old woman isn't also an attack on the woman who plays her...
...Their age is the same and with only a wig to separate their physical looks, which is not enough to change what actor and character look like, when you attack Carol based on age and looks YOU ARE ALSO ATTACKING Melissa's age and looks. Let me put it this way...
...If I said you're old and ugly online, not offline only when online that the second you log-on how ugly and old you look but log-off, wow, what a difference, you're so pretty now. Would you be ok with that? Does your age or looks change when you logoff? No? They're the same?...
... Melissa's age and looks don't change, other than costume, when she steps offset. I hope those who truly think they aren't attacking the actor realise that YES YOU ARE and sometimes Melissa sees those attacks. Please think before you tweet. #BeKind #BeKindToEachOther
