Just going on the Twitter Record [tm] to say that I did captioning work for @ThomasBeautyy a couple years ago, and he completely ghosted on me in the middle of it. He paid me for a while as I completed videos, and then he just kinda disappeared.
In the brief time that I worked for him, he was hard to get ahold of and made a lot of excuses. I wasn’t surprised when he stopped talking to me altogether. I was part way through captioning a video and didn’t bother finishing it; I knew I wouldn’t be paid for that time.
I didn’t speak out about it when this all went down because I was *really* scared of facing backlash from his fans, or anyone from the beauty community in general, but I saw he’s being called out by a lot of others for the same bullshit and wanted to add my experience as well.
And again, this was years ago. (And two phones ago!) We first got in touch through Twitter but quickly made the switch to texting, so I don’t have receipts. Take that how you will, but don’t tell me this doesn’t line up with what he’s pulled with others.
Thomas reached out to me for work when I was in a bad financial spot, offered to pay me a consistent and unreasonably high amount, and then proceeded to ditch me when he felt like it. I still feel very taken advantage of.
Gonna wrap up this thread by saying I’m not bringing any of this up for clout, or to be compensated for the couple hours of unpaid work I did. Just wanted to add to the pile of warnings for anyone considering working with him. He’s been pulling this same stunt for years.
