1. The Fall (2006)
Holy shit this is a beautiful movie. It was filmed over 20 countries and u can tell it was a labour of love of Tarsem Singh. I think most people would argue that it’s style > substance but I disagree.
For a world that’s steeped in a child’s imagination, the plot is actually quite dark and discussed suicide and depression a bit. That jarring juxtaposition was actually what lent the movie some nuance. I didn’t give it a 10 because the plot still lacks some sort of pizzazz.
Another theme discusses wae narration and story telling. Abt how perspectives change a story. And it’s really beautiful to see that from the view of a child, especially how wild and innocent that perspective is even towards trauma and death.
Also HOLY SHIT THE COSTUMESSSS. I’m gonna get married in the wedding dress.
