Reese Witherspoon is giving away free dresses to teachers. (Like 5 people have emailed me this link.)

As a band/choir director, I wore almost all dresses & skirts. I used to be quasi-obsessed with ModCloth WHEN WE WERE STILL TALKING TO MODCLOTH.

Thread about shopping!
Growing up as a relatively poor kid who loved clothes (and got boxes upon boxes of my cousin’s hand-me-downs), I do love in-person, find the bargains shopping. I own a staggering amount of clothes from Target. I typically cannot help myself.
There was a Dillard’s clearance center near where I used to live & I went bananas there for a few years.

These days I mostly buy thrifted & consignment. I buy too much from ThredUp, but I’m trying to limit my clothes buying in general.
I used to love dresses, and I know myself well enough to know I look best in A-line skirts. I go for longer ones now, but maxi/midi A-line dresses are harder to find.

I also love leggings as pants and with quarantine, that is the new law.
When I started teaching, I bought clothes just because I could? Or because they were on sale? Or because “what if I need this?”

I went on bonkers H&M frenzies at certain points, but their corporate actions made me stop shopping there.
What have I done to curb my shopping habits?

I’ve looked at companies ‘ their actions, and decided from there whether they’re worth buying from.

Going primarily second hand is better from a million standpoints.
I totally Marie Kondo’d my clothes last year before we moved and BOY did it feel good. I put on my favorite album from high school (The Smashing Pumpkins’ Adore, make your judgements) & Kondo’d the snap out of my wardrobe.
I have a much smaller closet now and reduced storage options. I’ve gone with that. I’m not trying to work against it.

Although teaching elementary school means you get one million t-shirts. I thought college band & sorority was bad.
I’ve also limited my clothing color palette. That has helped my buying/hoarding a LOT.

I love black & white, I love dark greys, and I love berry shades: varying pinks, purple being my favorite color, cranberry/burgundy, that sort of thing.
I look awful in most reds, but pinks soften me up, and green eyes/dark hair look great in purple.

You figure out what works for you & you stick with that. Other things sort of fade away as that happens. 💜
Cue Steve Martin & Martín Short in Father of the Bride!!

Also I know it’s spring, but aren’t designers aware that no one is leaving the house until fall?!!!?!
