i’ve talked about jae’s songwriting style before but he’s more poetic, descriptive, specific, and makes connections .. aside from his eaj project, he’s actually shown us his capabilities in songs like chocolate and goodbye winter, among others,, he likes stimulating your senses

but tbh his eaj project songs are another level and it’s jae at his core and at his most comfortable; his lyrics are easy to empathize with and feel, even though you can’t exactly wrap your head around the meaning the first time around

his imagery and ability to compare is amazing like . personifying a season, likening someone to the taste of chocolate, writing about so many details

and i really have to praise the lyrics he writes in english; he’s good at wordplay, imagery, rhyming

he likes setting up the scene when a song first opens up
(guess not: rain being God’s tears)

and his most thought-provoking lyrics can be found at the end (rose, 50 proof) or in the middle of the songs

(guess not: burned my heart in the sky so you’d see your crime)

and my other fave lyrics from the eaj project so far:

“why’d you take my heart? what the hell do you need another one for?” -Pinocchio

im also amused that 50 proof had a line that goes “who wipes the problems like leaves turned AUTUMN when they won’t stop FALLING”

> autumn = fall (the season)
> falling can mean decreasing in intensity, or literally falling down from a higher level
