I remember when Obama was elected. I was sitting in a prison somewhere in Mississippi. I was jubilant. We were all listening to NPR on our shitty, overpriced radios. It was a magical moment. The atmosphere was electric. Almost like the doors to the prison had been flung open
I wouldn’t be released for 8 more years, but I felt it. We all felt like something big was coming. Something was about to change
I felt it when I got out too...I had only magazines up to 2015. I still believed, and dove into “social media” a Democrat forever. I believed in the Democrats. Then... I started digging. Like I’m wont to do.
I was on parole, so I had to be careful. But the more I dug, the more I realized something- Obama hadn’t actually done anything. At least nothing like what he promised.
And it was a shock. I believed in Obama completely until 2016. Then I started seeing things past what Rolling Stone told me. I’m not exactly sure why I posted this thread except to say...Obama has truly been one of the biggest disappointments of my life.
But he gets credit for one thing...making me understand class. In the truest, realist sense.
