Here's a few things I've learned about maximizing feedback/comments for fanfics:
- Being a little chatty/casual in endnotes helps. Probably good to leave a prompt for comment on each chapter. (Your comments fuel me on ect.) A lot of times readers just forget.

- A few lines about the writing process or character meta help start a conversation. (or jokes on the characters.)
- "What's your favorite part?"
- "What's your favorite part?"
- Fics that updates in many short chunks tend to get overall more views/comments than posting in a few long chapters. (Obviously, quality still matters, but every update bumps you up to "most recent". Also it's easier to comment on shorter chapters.)
- If you have a frequent reader try to engage them in a conversation. People normally give you a response if you seek them out. If you find out their taste you can dm them your other fics that matches it. (And you can make a friend)
- It really helps if you respond to comments. Try to continue the conversation. Like if someone just "wow, this entire chapter" you could def ask "so what's your favorite part?"
- Even if you have no meaningful response to comments, a "glad you like it" will indicate to the reader (and other readers) their comment is welcomed. As a reader, sometimes I decide whether to comment by seeing if the writer responds to other comments.
