Feminism and
True Feminism.
There's a huge difference between the 2.
Unlike nodding your head for whatever Marx says & opposing governments every move, true feminists in reality works, for, and also against, government depending on the situation.
Here's one such brave woman whose contributions in building Bharat must be written in Golden Letters.
#Kamaladevi_Chattopadhyaya.
Born on this day, 3rd April 1903 at Mangalore for Saraswat Brahmin Community, Kamala in her early years rebelled against the Orthodox structures of
family, she mingled with the children of their maids to understand them.
Learnt Puranas, Samskrita from the maternal grandparents, Kamala lost her father at young age..
Tragedy stuck again when she got widowed 2 years after their marriage at age of 16.
Later she went for Chennai for further education where she met Harindranath Chattopadhaya, brother of Sarojini Naidu, their common interest brought them together and Kamala in her 20 married again much to the opposition of family.
Pursuing their role in Swadeshi Chaluvali
as well as their Drama stints, Kamala acted in a Kannada silent movie #Mricchakatika in 1931 followed with legendary K L Saigal in a Hindi movie #Tansen.
Later she did perform in 3 other movies.
Meanwhile, she founded All India Women's Conference after a brief stint at #Sevadal,
She was also arrested many a times, once she didn't leave the Tricolor she hugged while the police beat her mercilessly and in another incident she asked the British judge whether he buys her home made salt which infuriated him and she was again thrown into Jail.
Post Independence,
Her first task was rehabilitation of refugees.
She established Indian Cooperative Union for which Nehru was opposed to...
Finally he agreed with a condition that No State Assistance for her...
The township of #Faridabad thus came into existence.
The #Skill_India was her brainchild, she single handedly revived the arts&crafts of artisans which not only helped the livelihood of refugees but also gave artisans a new world of hope and business.
The Central Cottage Industries, Awards for Craftsman etc came with her vision.
She also founded
#NationalSchoolOfDrama and was President of Sangeet Natak Academy.
She was the first President of Worlds Craft Council.
Honoured with
#PadamaBhushan in 1955 and #Padma_Vibhushan in 1987, Kamaladevi also received #Magsaysay in 1966.
Kamaladevi passed away on 29th October 1988, at Mumbai contributing her maximum for building Bharat, bettering the lives of lakhs and lakhs of people.
An Inspiration for all.
