I want to capture and share some observations from this #COVID2019 pandemic. This will be a thread including some negatives and positives.
/ A police officer told me he's seen a massive spike in domestic violence which people warned about
/ The stories of medical professionals worrying about PPE and having to live apart from their families are hard. I feel for them and respect them. The stories I read about them writing wills, etc. actually made me cry.
/ A friend's 101 year old grandmother passed...likely from #COVID and they had to do the funeral and sit shiva via Facetime and Zoom. Never imagined that when this started.
/ I can't believe the politics that we see play out on TV. So much blaming. Such lack of leadership. On the flipside, I know people are working crazy hours doing so much to try to address this at places like FEMA and the states.
/ If this doesn't make you see the interconnectedness of the world, I'm not sure what will.
/ I've learned what news channel my contacts watch based on what they say. One posted a picture holding a Corona on Spring Break saying "I have Corona" -> instant stop following and remove from network
/ Another telling me to just turn off the TV for 30-days and it would all go away -> can't respect you anymore. Another blaming it all on the Chinese and praising our president -> just don't understand. Fox News has brainwashed so many
/ Watching the Spring Breakers was so frustrating. Knowing a nurse and her family were there and then come back to complain about people not taking it seriously-> stunning.
/ Amazed by all the work that #pharma companies are doing and wondering if this will permanently change their brand perception as they step up to help us with testing, drugs, and vaccines.
/ So appreciative of all the frontline workers and what they're doing with all the same stresses that we all have about our kids, family, and the macro-economy. #ThankYouFrontliners
/ Worried about the mental health impacts the economy will have on people and families along with the social isolation and complete disruption of daily routines along with generational experience kids are left with
/ Happy that I am able to work from home. Enjoyed talking to some neighbors while I'm walking my dog. Pleasantly surprised that a turkey woke me up the other morning.
/ Intrigued by how and which of these changes will become our new norm. #Telehealth. New #pharmacist and #pharmacy roles. More digital less retail. Focus on cleanliness. Physical distancing. #remotelearning
/ Keep thinking about random impacts of all this. Big jump in deaths impacting life insurance companies. Less driving meaning less new cars being bought even when we're back to normal.
/ Will time in the houses with families and couples lead to closer families, a baby boom, or more divorces? How will people deal? Will that vary based on suburban, urban? Income?
/ Sad for all the kids that will miss high school graduation, prom, and other events or that had to move home from college but realize it's all insignificant compared to all the other impacts that this is having
/ Trying to make sure my kids understand and learn from this. Focusing on humanizing this and making sure they can be empathetic. Death. Job loss. Economic challenges. Stress.
/ So frustrated to see that #DrFauci has to have a security detail now because of the crazy world we live in and people trying to place blame on him.
/ Cautiously optimistic that we'll #FlattenTheCurve and hoping people #StaySafeStayHome but know we'll never be able to do what other countries have done. Frightened we become like Italy. Inspired by innovation examples
/ Impressed w everything my company is doing. All hands calls. Total transparency. Rallying to help public and private clients.
/ worried about some of our most vulnerable. Eg an old priest who’s worried about going to hospital to administer last rights but told he has to.
