TFW when your only METL is good press and you still manage to fail https://twitter.com/cjchivers/status/1245869728196743169">https://twitter.com/cjchivers...
Good news is those 3 patients are getting a multiple lifetime supply of Motrin 800s thanks to NAVMED
BTW, yes, deploying -19 and -20 was a PR stunt, although on the behalf of whom is probably a more interesting question. But this was also true when people were screaming about sending it to Puerto Rico after the hurricane, so...
T-AHs were never designed and are not thought of as a way to deal with infectious disease outbreaks. Just not what they are supposed to. Given that the real requirement is "bed space", frankly, HS/professional sports gyms would have been a better use for the MTF folks
Those are usually easy to get to, at least. But there& #39;s a bunch of things that make the T-AHs hard to get to/onboard, hard to get around, and things they can& #39;t treat while there (and may not have the people to treat them for anyway)
As the NYT article noted, if the NYers/Angelenos would relax and go back to shooting/stabbing/getting into horrible accidents all the time like normal, they would be really, really useful (since it& #39;s basically there to deal with lots of people getting shot/et al)
Summary, hospital ships are not the platform we think of them/sell them as being, and they aren& #39;t good for this. We deployed them because "We need to do SOMETHING" is a guiding principle of naval leadership right now. Probably not going to end up going well for them, though
