People have been fighting about this map all day, suggesting the great swaths of red say something moral or not about southerners.

There's an argument it's all about where there are food deserts.
Not only does that entirely discount the Navajo Nation--one of the most remote, poorest food deserts in the country, but also one of the hardest hit by COVID. They stopped moving on March 19.
But it also ignores West Virginia.

West Virginia has a shithole Republican governor, Jim Justice.

But unlike KY and VA's Democratic governors, Justice imposed a full stay-at-home order on March 24.

Unless we attribute this to Civil War sides, West Virginia alone disproves everything you're claiming about the south and shitty Republicans and food deserts.

The map is about stay-at-home orders, and--in fact--shows how much less effective non-essential shutdowns are.
An important point abt the Navajo Nation stat: It's hella remote up there and yes a lot of people don't have cell service. https://twitter.com/fbihop/status/1245881914432471040
