Who is Jalen Reagor?

#CrockTalk
I'll mix together 2019 vs Purdue and 2018 vs Ohio St

5'11" 206 lbs
4.47 40
42" vert

We know about the explosive plays that can be seen below... But who is Reagor every play and how does his game translate to the NFL? We'll dive into that now.

Again.. this is not a highlight thread with cherry picked plays. We will dive into what type of prospect he is. How does he win? Does he win the way he wins consistently?
The first thing i look for are movement skills. He didnt do much here but i was like ok i see the feet.. doesnt look stiff.. thats a good sign
Corner reading 2 to 1 but im just looking at how he runs the deep comeback.. the speed.. how many steps it takes to get out of his break.. not bad. That's damn near a 20 yard comeback. Not bad at all
Good job playing with speed.. attacking the corners leverage making him speed turn.. that's solid
QB overthrows him but he's showing that vertical speed. ooked like he hit that 2nd gear once he hit the 50 lol i like it.. He's known for being a speed guy so thats what i want to see.. can you win with speed.
Against Ohio State he struggled to run away from their corners. Mainly Arnette. He did a great job with the double stick release here. Talked about his good feet and movement skills. Nice. Left just enough room for the qb to drop it in there over the shoulder
Against Oh st they took several deep shots. Ideally you'd like to see him separate downfield a little more from a 4.57 40 corner. I love Arnettes game though. Think he plays faster than that 40
Slot fades are very popular in the NFL... Reagor didn't line up in the slot much. Does a good job with the slight push off to create space. Still if he's a speed guy i'd like to see him win here a little more. But not bad at all. Just would take a perfect throw
Another deep ball. Hard to out run a corner who is bailing. So what i took away from the Ohio state game.. struggled to separate downfield compared to Purdue where he won on his deep shots
Uses best release here. Works back on top to stack the corner. This is good stuff. Again.. didnt create this type of downfield separation from Sheffield, Arnette and Okudah but easily got behind Purdue cbs
Deep throws are the lowest % pass a qb can attempt. I think he can win on those but that's not what is going to be consistent.. Lets get to the other stuff
Didn't get much but its good to see him make guys miss in space.
Little stop route.. making the first guy miss again
Again making the first guy miss. Whooped first dude lol
Good run after catch ability on the screen. Played strong at the end. 1st down. We are just looking at ability right now
Pushes up field.. comes back.. perfect timing to set up his blockers. Again makes the first guy miss.. love it
Almost done with this stuff before we get into his route running but one thing is clear... didn't show much effort when it came to blocking..
This is just an effort thing.. Not ability. NFL teams will get on that
Again.. Poor effort to block
Route running ability.. i was impressed. More times than not got clean releases.. dont think i saw anyone get hands on him. Quick feet.. nice burst upfield to get the CB going... sits down and creates separation.. Thats what i like to see.. Especially if you are only 5'1"
Some coaches will teach guys they can be more aggressive in 2 man.. CB lunges.. Reagor whoops him. Put the corner in a vulnerable position even for 2man
Comes in motion.. can you cross face untouched.. thats good stuff.. not bad
This is good.. when Corners feel threatened by your speed they'll open up.. good job getting the corner going up field.. come back underneath clean and untouched.. nice..
I think Okudah defended this almost as well as you can. Again with the clean release.. and strong hands. I think he plays through contact very well. And when you are 5'11" you have to play big.. play strong.. this is good stuff
Moving around a little bit... Slot lined up off the ball so the space is already created..Again playing through contact.. strong hands.. I love it!
Maybe the only time i saw someone get hands on at the LOS.. Good stuff but the corner to get hands on and then read him down. I think that's Okudah
Not much but i can see whats going through the corners mind.. He's a little anxious lol
I want to say thats Sheffield guarding him up top. Ohio States corners weren't as threatened vertically as Purdue's. See how square the corner stayed.. read him down nicely.. Sits down with Reagor
Last clip..Good versatility from him.. Lined up at every spot including RB and doing what he does.. making the first guy miss..
Overall i really like his game. I know the plays from these games weren't splashy but i saw a consistent skill set that works in the NFL as well
-Quick/Dynamic
-Terrific off the line with releases
-Strong hands
-Good route runner
-Vertical threat (Can play outside or slot)
-Makes 1st guy miss in space
-Plays big
Obviously everyone has seen the big splashy highlights but i think outside of those he has the type of game that'll make him a terrific complementary receiver to like a Davante Adams. Needs to improve blocking effort though lol
