the idea that this is even *an option* for millions of people who just got laid off in the past few days is such a fucking joke, it's the barest fig leaf for exculpating the system and responsibilizing them ("Well they have this CHOICE!" "There IS an option!") just pathetic

the entire neoliberalism shitshow has been a giant experiment in how much naive faith in acronyms and a fetish for "choices" can stand in for a functioning social contract and in how far we can make both misfortune and unnecessary tragedies an individual's fault & business alone

you are not enriched or empowered by the mere existence of "choices" which were never really meant for you in the first place!
