There is a growing body of work that SARS-CoV-2 is aerosolized during breathing and speech. It’s not just coughing and sneezing we should be concerned about. This is consistent with the spread of the novel coronavirus by asymptomatic individuals.
Bottom line: masks are essential

There was evidence of airborne transmission of SARS. There is now evidence of airborne transmission of SARS-CoV-2. Even by normal breathing.

Yet, WHO and CDC kept insisting that transmission was strictly by respiratory droplet (and fomites).

Let’s recap what WHO told us last month:

1. COVID-19 doesn’t transmit as efficiently as influenza
2. Presymptomatic people are not drivers of transmission
3. Only 1% of reported cases are asymptomatic
4. Airborne transmission doesn’t play a role

I don’t get angry easily. People who’ve known me for years know this. But stuff like this where billions of lives and livelihoods are at stake makes me angry.
