Cowabunga!

Thirty years ago this week the live-action "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" feature film opened in movie theatres. Man, do I feel old!
While the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" movie is a memorable time capsule itself, never underestimate the film's dizzying rap and new jack swing soundtrack that was somehow both corny and cool.

It's embarrassing to admit, but here we are:

"9.95" was easily my favourite song off this soundtrack as a kid... It's a feel-good track that, believe it or not, shamelessly tears a page from Paula Abdul's "Opposites Attract."
"Call April ONeil in on this case eh.
You better hurry up. There's no time to waste."

New York rap duo Partners in Kryme topped the U.K. singles chart with their debut "Turtle Power!" The song name checks all the #TMNT characters.

By track #10 the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" soundtrack has devolved into sappy ballads and this ripoff of 80s electro act MARRS.

Orchestra in the Half Shell sounds like a guy in his basement with a Casio keyboard. And it very well may have been.
Did you know the 1990 "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" movie features an appearance by a young Sam Rockwell as a Foot Soldiers recruiter?
