China did not do this to us.

Our elected leadership did.

Never forget that.
Clinton, Bush, and Obama all sold us out to China, hypnotized by the siren’s songs of globalization.

Only Trump promised to put American citizens first.

Today his agenda is vindicated.

Is he perfect? Nope. But he has changed the frame which will indeed lead to progress.
I was in under grad and grad school from 95-01.

I have a Masters in international finance and international affairs.

Globalization was the hot topic.

There were some people opposed back then.

The hard left.

Can you believe that?

It’ll be a “Race to the bottom” they said.
Expanded markets, expanded networks, expanded alliances.

The last three decades have been a non stop party of indiscriminate connection.

Social media is part of it too.

We’ve connected ourselves to everything and everyone without too much care.

It’s now time to disconnect.
The era of indiscriminate connection is over.

The tide turns towards strategic disconnection.

We don’t need to be connected to everything. Not every thing needs to go every place. And not every idea needs a free pass into your brain.

Curation now trumps connection.
The US, WTO, NATO, and even Twitter have all shown the downsides of indiscriminate connections.

Trade, security, and information network integrity require us to step back and establish a perimeter.

Be more selective about who you trade with, ally with or listen to.
We counted on our elites to process information and make decisions for us.

They failed us.

They will continue to fail us.

The world is too complex. Our institutions too rigid. The process of reorienting on the fly is too slow.

We make bad decisions and stick with them.
There’s no trust in our institutions.

We citizens are on our own.

We’re on a new path.

Networked political movements are rising.

Sense making networks are growing.

And people are raising information based militias.

Because we must.

We are all pirates now.
