I’ve seen some discourse on here where people who are angry about people in grocery stores buying things like ice cream, sodas, chips, etc. and it got me thinking. I do a weekly trip now for fresh veggies, meat, and milk. I’m anxious the entire time.
I only get necessities because I have no idea what our family income will be. I’m stressed AF about every penny.
But if I had money to spend... and my family had all they needed...who would it hurt if I bought ice cream? Why are we shaming people for things that bring them joy?
If we all have to stay inside and forgo human contact, what the fuck is wrong with comfort food?
I’m not saying people should go shopping out of boredom. I’m saying, if they have to shop anyway, why are we shaming them for what they buy?
Anyway, i just hope we can all remember the strangers in the grocery stores don’t want to be there either and it’s impossible to get a shipt or instacart time slot so they might need their hot takis and ben & jerrys to unwind after all that.
