1. Beware of emails claiming to be from “experts” at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) or the World Health Organization saying they have info about the virus. Scammers can pretend to be from these orgs, as shown in this video

The Department of Justice has reported individuals and businesses selling fake cures for COVID-19 and engaging in other forms of fraud. At this time, there is NO KNOWN CURE for coronavirus. Don't trust private individuals claiming to have a vaccine. https://www.justice.gov/coronavirus#1

The Securities and Exchange Commission is discouraging investing in companies who claim they are working on a coronavirus cure. Check official sources to insure these companies are legitimate before being lured into a scam.

Do not click on unknown links or emails. As stated before, “phishing” emails claiming to be about Covid-19 may be an attempt to steal your personal information.

Know exactly who you’re buying from, and make sure it’s a legitimate contract. Sellers may claim to have in-demand products, like cleaning, household, and health and medical supplies (and even toilet paper!) when, in fact, they don’t.

Be extremely aware of price gouging. Right now, many scammers are trying to resell necessary products for an exponentially greater price, making money off of YOUR needs. To report price gouging, call 1-866-9NO-SCAM.
