Something great we are seeing: Lots of people are buying from their local businesses. That helps them survive and that keeps people employed. The majority of all jobs are with small businesses. There is even a lot of community effort to get the favorite local places online
Something bad we are seeing: I’m concerned that governments will prevent this vital economic activity by accident. New Zealand recently shut down all “non-essential” ecommerce. According to our data small businesses there are hit hardest. New entrepreneurs give up.
I realize governments want to do ‘something’ and might over swing. This is an especially bad way to do it. Small businesses are extremely vulnerable right now. So much of the economy is driven by them.
Global unemployment numbers are staggering right now. Travel and Entertainment are already at the brink. Small retail businesses don’t have to be. We’re happy to work with any government and provide the right data needed to prevent these kind of unintended consequences
