There have been a number of posts about preserving human rights during the crisis - I think this isn’t the right framing. During an event of of this magnitude, the important thing is how to reimagine human rights to adapt to the new needs and possibilities generated by the crisis
Preserving human rights limits the scope of the project to existing legal protections and minimums. Earlier human rights projects that achieved decisive advancements sought to reimagine the world as it was and to demand new sets of rights, duties and responsibilities.
Human rights movements often frame demands as self-evident or around the implementation of established principles never fully realized, which obscures the radical changes that often ensued.
