We literally have intelligence documents showing that a cult leader wielded a dangerous amount of influence on Park Chung-hee's daughter, Park was worried about it, and then that daughter became president and the cult leader's daughter was her shadow adviser

Park Chung-hee also *literally* kidnapped opposition leader Kim Dae-jung (who would also later become president) and tried to drown him, when the CIA stepped in.

In 1971 a covert mission squad that S Korea planned to use to infiltrate N Korea (it had been formed in response to N Korean attempts on Park Chung-hee's life in 1968) murdered their own leaders and escaped their island where they'd been training. Eventually shot dead by army.
