I miss my kids. I miss my heart being full at the end of a day.
I miss saying good morning to my freshman who always look half asleep.
I miss the upper class man who always walk by me into my room and say they think they’ll come to Math 1 today.
I miss my advisory kids who all say advisory is their favorite class but are too cool to act like it.
I miss the constant sound of my pencil sharpener.
I miss sitting on the floor in the back of my room because my kids mostly teach each other.
I miss learning and speaking Spanish.
I miss walking down the hall and hearing “hey Schwartz”
I miss the walls of my classroom.
I miss LGBTQ lunch club and the seemingly unending amount of glitter that ends up in my room.
I miss my seniors who were at one point shorter than me.
I miss high fives.
I miss silly conversations about boys and sad conversations about girls and serious conversations about gender.
I miss my kids. I miss my heart being full at the end of a day.
