Today at the grocery store the man in front of me had all 3 of his cards declined. He was elderly, wearing a mask and in a rascal. The cashier asked âdo you want us to hold it?â the man clearly dejected, said âuh no I guess Iâll come back when I have the moneyâ. See comments..
Standing there with my son I couldnât let that man leave without his groceries...my heart wouldnât let it happen. I asked the cashier âhow much is it?â He looked at me and said â$92â. I reached in my wallet and told the man âIâll pay for itâ . The look on the mans face...
...said it all. As I stood there using my card...He took his mask off and looked at me and said âthank you so much sir, thank you so muchâ. I turned and looked at him and said âno problem sir, just please go home be safe and stay insideâ. Tears in his eyes, he was so relieved...
...my son standing there âdad you just paid for his stuff, that was so nice of youâ. I told my son, we have to look out for one another and even more so now than ever. The man left and I went on about my day. I write this not because Iâm looking for an applause...
I write this because I think some of us need to see it. In times where selfishness has reared its ugly face, we still have to do what we can to help each other. I hope that man gets through this as I hope we all do. But we gotta look out for one another. Give when you can...
Take only what you need and look out for one another. I couldnât imagine that man going home empty handed. Thank god I was there to help. Thatâs someoneâs family, and I wasnât gonna let him go out like that because I hope someone would do that for my family If they needed it.
