Trump's response to this crisis has been slow, insufficient, and driven by his ego instead of the advice of medical experts. But Google refused to allow anyone to use their platforms to call him out for it and only changed their stance after public outcry. https://www.theverge.com/2020/4/2/21204413/google-coronavirus-ad-ban-democrats-political-advertising-white-house-donald-trump
Unfortunately, this is part of a larger pattern. Google refused to prohibit false ads on their platforms. They imposed drastic restrictions on targeting for political ads that make it difficult and more costly for Democrats to communicate.
And months before Democrats could select their nominee, they sold their most prominent YouTube ad on Election Day to the Trump campaign.
Google shouldn't be deciding which side of any issue the public gets to hear about. No tech company should have that kind of power to control the flow of information or put their thumb on the scale. We need to #BreakUpBigTech.
