As we approach the 76th anniversary of the Chameria genocide, we share the stories of Albanian civilians, mostly kids and women, who were murdered by Greek forces.
Names of the slaughtered Albanian women and children in Parga who were slaughtered with knives and axes after being raped đź•Ż
On June 27, 1944, #Greece began its barbarous attacks in Paramythia, the center of Chameria.
Behije Memko, a survivor of the massacre, witnessed all of the murders in her family as a young, innocent child.

“They cut pregnant Sano’s belly, killed her baby and put him on her lap” 💔
Even in 2020, Cham Albanians cannot visit the Chameria region because the Greek government fears they will go back to claim their houses.

“I feel pain and I miss it” 💔
“Forgiveness is liberation”

We shall never forget 🙏
Now we transition to some songs by Cham artists about the genocide. The first one from Enkelejda Arifi (also includes Kastriot Tusha, Ilir Shaqiri, Selami Kolonja & Nikole Nikprelaj).

"Mother and father left without a grave,
My martyr Chameria"
A song about a brother and sister separated during the genocide, meeting after many years.

"Are you my sister?
For years I haven't seen you...
You remind me of mother,
As if she was alive"
"Gjithe jeten pa te pare,
mbetem rrugeve te ndare,
s'ka nje varr per te qare,
Cameri moj Cameri"
"In the distance fades a rainbow,
Over the tips of the pyres,
A tearful word of farewell,
In the pouring rain.
In the distance fades Chameria,
Our homeland in flames"
Cham refugees in #Albania, ca. 1946.
Greece must apologize and recognize the genocide and the illegal expropriation of innocent Albanians from Chameria.

We need #JusticeForChameria 🙏
