BREAKING: Joe Biden still wants people in Wisconsin to vote in person. "A convention with 10,000 people in an arena..is very different from having people walking into a polling booth..." Says he also supports using "some" mail-ballots. But refuses to support all-mail election.
Full Biden quote: "A convention with 10,000 people in an arena is very different from having people walk into a polling booth with accurate spacing, 6 to 10 feet apart." Also mentioned booths being wiped down after each use. Hard to think this really works with CDC guidelines...
Cleaned up quote: "A convention having tens of thousands of people in one arena is very different than having people walk into a polling booth with accurate spacing, six to 10 feet apart, one at time going in, and having machines scrubbed down...I think it's possible to do both."
Biden was specifically asked if he thought the Wisconsin primary (scheduled for next week) should go on as-planned when the Democratic National Convention (scheduled for this summer) was postponed, in light of public health officials' concerns. He insisted it "could be done."
BTW: Biden's statement about doing "both" is a reference to a combination of in-person voting and vote-by-mail balloting in Wisconsin. Just realized that, out of context, could be interpreted as referring to DNC. He supports postponing DNC; Wisconsin primary as currently planned.
