Hopefully I can ask this question without getting screamed at: if a person with coronavirus dies, is their death automatically attributed to the virus? What if a person has terminal cancer and gets the virus and dies. Is that a death from the cancer or a death from the virus?
I just saw a really tragic headline about a baby who was brought to the hospital unresponsive, died, and then tested positive for the virus. Very likely could have died from it, of course, but in that situation do they automatically put it in the death toll column for corona?
Under normal circumstances my understanding was that if a person had terminal cancer and a compromised immune system and then contracted pneumonia or something like that, we would say he "succumbed to cancer" or "lost his battle with cancer," etc. Is it different with this virus?
