2) why is speaking Spanish seen as an asset for white Americans, but English only is encouraged in classrooms, or worse, we are actually stopped and asked for documentation if speaking Spanish with friends in public places like the mall.
3) For those with darker skin, we are told many times that we look less assimilated, code for "illegal"
Why do we fear being stopped by police? The stereotype of being violent exists. Police treat us different than white Americans.
4) A huge issue facing latinas and native women, is the huge amount of us, mostly teens, that are missing, raped or murdered. Usually by non natives or non Latinos.
This exists because of society fetishizing latina and native women as sexy.

We are viewed as foreign, no matter if we are 1st, 2nd or 3rd generation.
Most Latinos in the US are born here. Yet, we are foreign in our own land.

This quote from the article is something that we feel everyday.
This is our reality.
7) Reality is that this administration has made this more evident. Exposing us for the world to view us as violent, uneducated, heathens incapable of being "American"
