A note to professors/colleges everywhere I'm looking at you @veruka2 . PLEASE do not use real things happening in students' lives to make a point to the twitter community. Not only does it erode a relationship we often consider important (and somewhat confidential)
even if you're using pseudonyms, students in your small seminar class WILL know who you're talking about
PLEASE do not post photos of students faces with their names on Zoom on twitter, not only is zoom a hackable, unsafe (in a data sense) platform but this might be a FERPA violation
My stories, my struggles, my issues and those of my peers are OURS. #academictwitter it is your prerogative to share YOUR stories and struggles, not ours
While this feels particularly prescient during #COVIDー19, I've seen it happen the entire time I've been a part of #AcademicTwitter with things as grave as sexual assault, harassment, and racial/gender discrimination.
You may be a mandated reporter but that means to your institutions Title IX office, not to Twitter.
LET US HAVE OUR VIRTUAL PRIVACY PLEASE #getofftwitter #rantover
