COVID19 and mental health reflections: a thread

1. People with mental illness are at risk of COVID19 and should have the same access to physical health care and treatment as everyone else
2. People with mental illness’s needs in so many spheres of life can be overlooked, so we must make sure these are considered and addressed equitably
3. Stigma against mental illness still exists, so must be called out, especially if it affects access to treatment.
4. People with mental illness can be indirectly discriminated against when it comes to accessing treatment and so we must address that too.
5. People are amazing - the rate at which we are learning, producing guidance and changing practice is incredible.
6. Although it’s a hugely challenging time, for me it’s also inspiring and rewarding. I’m immensely proud of so many. This crisis is bringing out the best in us.
7. Stay home - and wash your hands!
