I was asked a couple of questions that I cannot answer, at least on Twitter, related to BTS member compromises for the sake of the group.

The truth is that no matter how much you enjoy BTS as a group or as individuals, there are things about them that we will never know.
It is simply not our place as fans to define their sacrifices and compromises because what we would consider being a bridge too far might not be for that member. You cannot clearly define someone else& #39;s boundaries by your own.
This is something that solo stans often struggle with because their understanding of a single BTS member is from their own, imagined POV. They set that members boundaries via their own fantasies, completely ignoring the reality of that member& #39;s life because the reality-
often gets in the way of their fantasy. And as I& #39;ve seen with members of other groups, some types of fans will often prioritize their own fantasy version of an idol over the reality of that idol, to the point of blaming or attacking the idol for "ruining" their fantasy.
I can& #39;t answer questions about which members made what compromises because I do not know BTS intimately. I do not know what goes on in their minds or hearts. I cannot assume with 100 percent certainty that they& #39;re secretly miserable or resentful over an individual opportunity.
People with a preference for a single member never miss imagined opportunities that they assume a member was forced to give up or will never have unless they leave BTS and Big Hit behind.

This belief system is found in both Eastern and Western solo stan logic.
The idea is that fangirls/fanboys will have a favorite member and they will buy products for that member. The company doesn& #39;t care, as long as they make money.

This is why Simone Cowbell and similar pop moguls (the late Lou Pearlman springs to mind) as well as LSM-
were able to debut boy and girl groups, however, a lack of humanity and empathy leads to a break-down at some point.

There& #39;s also the common habit of singling out one or two members to be the "real stars" of the group. This is a very toxic approach that causes jealousy and-
hard feelings.

But it& #39;s so normalized that fans are used to having a "favorite" and even treating other members of the same group badly. Because they& #39;re not expected to endure because the culture isn& #39;t made for it. BTS is an exception.
At no other point in history can I think of a group where every single member is not only necessary, but you FEEL their necessity.

When BTS first came to the US, it was clear that there was an effort to feel around for which member was the "star" that was carrying the group.
But each member is essential. Each member is special. And so, it& #39;s not a situation where it& #39;s logical to think about what each individual member is forced to give up because what each person has gained by being part of BTS is a gift beyond all calculatable measure.
It& #39;s easy for the fan, on the outside looking in, to expect silent suffering with "so many people in one group."

I& #39;ve seen too many shattered stars in my lifetime to ever assume that the road to fame would have been easier on these boys if they insisted on having their own way.
We don& #39;t know BTS members that well, so it& #39;s very hard to calculate the individual implications of their careers. You can imagine, you can argue, but you& #39;ll never know.

And honestly, I don& #39;t want to. I& #39;d have to live inside their heads and my own is kind of full enough, lol.
