yesterday afternoon i ran out and made this video (above) and edited on my phone all night. below is the rest of the video because twitter hates good long things.

bro you could've just said hey EVERYONE let's ALL do our part to help each other, including helping each other by not being racist toward Asians. but you didn't. you have a huge platform & America now sees you as the representative of all Asians. DO FUCKING BETTER @AndrewYang

we are all scared. but the virus coming from China does not mean all Asian-looking people should be a target of your fears. and for @andrewyang to be so utterly reckless with his huge platform by saying don't expect people to be less racist, Asians be more "American" is gutting.

tbh one of my only regrets about making this video so quickly is that i didn't spend more time filling in my eyebrows

HERE'S THE SWEETEST PART. while i was shooting on the street with the sign, a middle aged white woman and what appeared to be her early 20s son pulled up next to me and talked to me through their window even when the light turned green. she said "WE STAND WITH YOU..."

...the son nodded in agreement. she said, "we saw your sign (it said "HONK IF YOU WON'T HATE CRIME ME") and honked and it just made me tear up because it's just not right. and we are here for you. thank you for doing this." this caught me totally off-guard...

...i yelled 'THANK YOU SO MUCH" and started tearing up. then they nodded and sped away. i was trying to be funny but it was one of the sweetest and most sincere things that has happened to me in all the times i've done "man on the street" stuff. so to that duo: THANK YOU.

...p.s. i forgot to say that she said she specifically TURNED BACK AROUND THE BLOCK just so that she could come and say that to me.
