My deliveries take 2 to 3 times longer. Can’t really raise prices to account for it as my clients r hurting for cash. Do want to start a conversation about best practices in terms of delivering a product u have to retail. Be interested to hear ur thoughts after this thread.
When I go to a client first thing I do is sanitize my hands with Purrell. I have installed a dispenser in my truck. I then put on 3 layers of gloves. I get out of the truck, take backpack with cleaner, sanitizer and cold weather cleaner, cloth, paper towel.
I clean my cart first thing. I am not sure what is better just soap or sanitizer. I don’t have water so I can’t rinse the cart. In winter I have no choice but to use freezer cleaner. Summer I think I will sanitize cart. Still working on best practise in regards to cart.
Careful not to let anything touch ground I then sanitize or freezer clean the outside door. Again not sure if I need to use soap then sanitizer. I carefully bring ice into store, get to freezer. I do a soap clean with the same cloth I used to clean cart/door handle.
I wipe down all surfaces around door, door minus the glass, inside of door and the inside ledge of the merchandiser/freezer. I don’t do inside the freezer with each delivery. Even with freezer spray ice build up inside makes this hard to do. Yearly yes with defrost.
I then proceed to sanitize all the places I cleaned with soap. I use a quaternary ammonia, 200 ppm leave on sanitizer, I use paper towels for this. I try to dampen surfaces, but not make super wet. I finish with wiping down cleaning and sanitizer bottles with sanitizer.
I dispose of paper towels in plastic garbage bag I keep with me. I put wash cloth in side pocket in bag. I take off one pair of gloves. Proceed to load the ice. I should note if I know I will need more than load of ice I put 3 layers of gloves on, if I can fill freezer
in one load I will only use 2. In this thread I need to refill cart. I once again sanitize the door on the way out. I add ice to cart. I will sanitize door handle again on way in, remove second layer of gloves. Fill freezer. Write up invoice, get signature with
their pen. Ask them to rip off top copy. I ask them to put cash in bag. That cash will either be sanitized later or left for 4 days. I leave store. Spray down cart with sanitizer. Load on truck. I take off my gloves before I touch door of truck. I use the inside
Of my gloves toopen door, dispose of gloves in garbage. Sanitize my hands, sanitize invoice book. Sanitize my hands again. If I had masks I would wear them but I am leaving those for doctors and nurses. Please find my flaws, things I am missing.
One question I have is should I use a single cloth per shared surfaces, per delivery or per day? Remember this all costs money including time. Love to hear ur thoughts?
I forgot phone which I use to calculate costs. I sanitize that after and keys also.
