We should get together a couple of days where we all watch both halves of Liam's Quest. Still one of the best things they've done. Liam is a wild DM who was very rules light & does fun cosmic horror with a lot of comedy. (And occasionally tears out you heart and eats it.)
The first one is so weird and fun. The cast (as themselves) (minus Matt, Marisha, & Ashley) escape from the WB studios after a weird time thing shunts them into a post-apocalyptic future and hooves them weird D&D powers & they fight monsters & the lurch of an old industry titan.
The second one they all got to play in. They wake up in a weird jungle as kids and go through a series of scary adventures that are a metaphor for depression. Eventually leading to the fucking scariest and most heart felt thing Liam has ever done:
Tell a story about suicidal depression as a way of telling his friends how much they'll always mean to him. It was the fucking scariest thing I've ever seen, especially live, because it was so terribly obvious it was real. Something Liam had experienced or was experiencing.
And Liam did the whole last scene in that weird computer voice he can do (which was breaking up the pain of the scene because that voice was their weakness and they kept laughing, even thigh they were scared and deeply moved). Fucking tremendous acting chops.
It was sort of triggering from my own experience with suicidal depression, but in a way that was also cathartic (take that with a grain of salt, I say the same about Dear Esther). It was everything you want to say and everything you want to hear back. It was very well done.
Anyway, these are two related one-shots I think every Critter who can safely see them should. It said A LOT about who they are as people at their core. And who they are to each other. And seeing them play versions of themselves was charming.
Does Saturday at 7 pm work for people to watch the first one-shot?
That's 7 pm PDT.
Do people have a favorite YouTube (or mp4) video sync service? I haven't really used any.
Okay, we have a plan. We'll be using http://watch2gether.com  at 7 pm PDT Saturday 2020-04-04 to watch #CriticalRole EXTRA - Liam's Quest! I'll send out a link 15 minutes prior to the show. I'll start with a public room, but I'll take it private if moderation becomes a problem.
For Full Circle I'm currently looking at Sunday 7pm PDT (if I'm available), or Tuesday 7 pm PDT. I should know later today, I hope.
If you can't make it to the group viewings but want to share in the communal re-earthing of these old gems, here are the links:
1. Critical Role EXTRA - Liam's Quest!

2. Critical Role Extra - The Return of Liam!
Oh, the end of Liam's Quest: Full Circle also contains the full force of the ridiculous swear game the cast play during the count down to live that the cast play to break the DM that we occasionally glimpse.
