Quibi is launching its mobile-only streaming platform in the middle of a pandemic.

But are viewers willing to harness another subscription service as jobs evaporate and a recession looms amid COVID-19?

My look at Quibi's pitch and 90-day free trial: https://bit.ly/2UDRSsH
#Quibi is live.

The mobile-only streaming platform founded by Jeffrey Katzenberg is now available with a free 90-day trial, packed with short series and films told in "chapters."

Here's my take on the service and the hurdles it faces: https://bit.ly/2UDRSsH
One mistake #Quibi makes out of the gate is blocking viewers from taking screencaps.

Since it's mobile-only, people can't easily snap a picture to share on social media any other way, so how does Quibi expect these shows to create visual discussion?

This is a serious flaw, imo.
I can’t show you what CTV News Day looks like in portrait mode, but suffice to say that news footage shot for 16:9 doesn’t look great when you zoom in on it.
“Gayme Show” is one of my personal favourites of the #Quibi launch titles. It’s unique, funny and deserves a full half hour.
"Murder House Flip" is a standard home reno show with a twist of each house being the scene of a murder at one point.

I saw the first run of episodes and can't decide if it's tasteless or just nothing special. Thoughts anyone? #quibi
I grew up in Canada so the nostalgia of a "Singled Out" update doesn't resonate with me because the show didn't air here.

But I like the new hosts, and it moves fast, so this seems to fit into the the time-filler entertainment category #Quibi wants to be.
Chrissy Teigen's "Chrissy's Court," a comedic take on "Judge Judy," is one that #Quibi is especially proud of, since it's in all the marketing materials.

It's a love-or-hate show with a good sense of humour, though it feels like a YouTube series with a bigger budget.
"Memory Hole," hosted by Will Arnett, is another #Quibi standout where he plunges into weird pop culture moments with punchy commentary.

Season one digs up some incredibly strange stuff, including the opening ceremonies of the SkyDome, an evening filled of musical numbers.
Part of the marketing hook for #Quibi is "turnstile" technology that allows viewers to seamlessly watch in either portrait or landscape.

But on the iPad the experience isn't quite the same. There are bars, like a widescreen-format movie.
